As an Electrician, Lighting Designer, and Scenic Technician, Simba collaborates with designers and production teams to bring creative visions to life. At Kenan Theatre Company, he works closely with student designers, helping them develop and execute their artistic ideas. As an Assistant Production Electrician at PlayMakers Repertory Company, he supports lighting execution in the Paul Green Theatre, ensuring each production meets the highest artistic and technical standards.
A dedicated mentor and technician, Simba is passionate about guiding emerging designers in mastering lighting technology and stage electrics. While pursuing his B.A. in Theatrical Design with a Minor in Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (May 2025), he has contributed to a diverse range of productions, including "Failure: A Love Story," "The Seagull," "Into the Woods," and "Little Shop of Horrors."
Born and raised in the streets of Kigoma, Tanzania, and now based in Durham, North Carolina, Simba brings a unique perspective to his work. His deep appreciation for storytelling through light and space, combined with his technical expertise, allows him to create impactful and immersive theatrical experiences.
